Position Overview
The City of Regina is seeking a dedicated Engineering Assistant II to provide essential technical and operational support within the Infrastructure Delivery branch. This role is pivotal in managing data related to municipal services, including sewer, water, and waste management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain databases pertinent to sewer, water, and waste infrastructure, ensuring accurate inspection and safety records.
- Generate statistical reports and compile necessary information by utilizing standard and customized computer records.
- Conduct locates for water and sewer infrastructure prior to construction activities.
- Ensure quality control and perform thorough analysis of data and information.
- Address public inquiries and concerns with professionalism and tact.
- Adhere to all regulations outlined in the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina's safety manual.
- Execute additional related tasks as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with the management and operations of water, sewer, and waste infrastructure.
- Proficient in organizing and storing electronic data, in line with City of Regina's record retention policies.
- Ability to effectively respond to inquiries and concerns from various stakeholders.
- Understanding of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and its application to the role.
- Knowledge of engineering principles relevant to water and sewer systems.
- Competence in interpreting engineering plans and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Capability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients in the development sector and municipal services.
- Proficiency in Office 365 and GIS or similar software.
- Understanding of surveying techniques and principles.
Educational Background & Experience
- Completion of Grade Twelve (12) or equivalent General Education Development (GED).
- Typically, two relevant post-secondary courses in engineering, mathematics, computer science, business, or administration.
- A minimum of two years of operational, field, technical, or engineering experience in a related industry.
Working Conditions
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- The role involves physical work in various environmental conditions.
- Candidates must be willing to participate in training and complete recognized certification programs.
- Flexibility to work from different operational bases is necessary.
- Willingness to work overtime and irregular hours may be required.
Additional Considerations
- The successful candidate may need to provide a satisfactory criminal record check.
- Proof of educational qualifications will be required.
- Additional assessments may be conducted to evaluate competencies and skills.
