Produce Department Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Produce Department Manager to join our team at No Frills. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for leading the produce department to achieve exceptional customer satisfaction and sales growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Train and develop staff to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to provide excellent customer service and maintain high-quality produce displays.
  • Schedule and manage the produce department to meet business needs, ensuring efficient operations and maximum sales potential.
  • Handle customer complaints in a professional and timely manner, resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety, food safety, and store policies, and maintain a clean and organized store environment.
  • Train and motivate staff to achieve sales goals and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Delegate and prioritize workload for staff, ensuring effective use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Develop and implement effective merchandising and promotional programs to drive sales and increase customer engagement.
  • Recommend sales goals and strategies to achieve business objectives, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor activities.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and inventory management, and maintain a high level of product quality and presentation.
  • Assume key carrying and alarm responsibilities in the absence of the Franchisee, and perform other duties as required to ensure excellent customer service and store operations.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • 1-3 years of management experience, preferably in a retail or food service environment.
  • 1-3 years of experience leading a produce department or similar role.
  • Experience working in meat, deli, and bakery departments is an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for the No Frills concept, including low price image and customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and customers.
  • Ability to manage people, prioritize tasks, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Solid knowledge of produce operations, products, and industry trends.
  • Open availability and flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays according to business needs.
