Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver news stories, weather updates, and public announcements with clarity and precision.
  • Edit and refine news scripts to ensure accuracy and coherence.
  • Adhere to broadcast schedules and meet strict deadlines.
  • Exhibit clear pronunciation and articulate speech to maintain credibility.
  • Assess and prioritize news items based on significance and urgency.
  • Report on significant breaking news across the region.
  • Propose story ideas and contribute to content development.
  • Anchor various news segments, including sports and agriculture.
  • Attend press conferences and create relevant local news pieces.
  • Research and write local and regional news stories from reliable sources.
  • Update social media platforms and station websites with pertinent information.
  • Monitor social media and emergency service feeds for news updates.
  • Adapt trending stories to resonate with our audience.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with KLZ Newsroom.
  • Graduate of an accredited journalism or broadcast news program with at least 2 years of experience in a radio newsroom.
  • Exceptional writing and communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated individual who can follow directions.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with social media and online story formatting.

Requirements:

  • A genuine curiosity and the ability to ask insightful questions.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
