Position Overview:
At Harvard Media, we are seeking a skilled and adaptable Broadcast Journalist to deliver compelling news coverage. This role requires a proactive and articulate communicator who can navigate through complex narratives to present the truth to our audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver news stories, weather updates, and announcements with clarity and precision.
  • Edit and refine news scripts to ensure accuracy and coherence.
  • Adhere to broadcast schedules and deadlines for timely news delivery.
  • Exhibit clear diction and proper pronunciation to enhance credibility.
  • Assess and prioritize news stories based on significance and relevance.
  • Report on urgent news events across the region.
  • Contribute innovative story ideas and content suggestions.
  • Anchor various news segments, including sports and agriculture.
  • Attend press conferences and distill information into relevant news articles.
  • Research and write local and regional news stories using established contacts.
  • Update digital platforms with pertinent news content.
  • Monitor social media and emergency feeds for breaking news.
  • Localize trending topics for our audience's interests.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with KLZ Newsroom.
  • Graduate of an accredited journalism or broadcast news program with at least 2 years of experience in radio.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to follow directions.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with social media and online content formatting.

  • A genuine curiosity and the ability to ask insightful questions.
  • Flexibility in scheduling.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
