The Ottawa Centre for Cognitive Therapy is on the lookout for a qualified Psychotherapist specializing in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 annually - Full-time, Permanent

Established in 1995, the Ottawa Centre for Cognitive Therapy is a thriving private clinic dedicated to providing high-quality therapy services. With a commitment to excellence, we conduct around 10,000 therapy sessions annually, supported by a team of 12 professionals, including 5 Psychotherapists and 7 Psychologists. Our environment fosters collaboration and offers ample opportunities for social interaction among colleagues.

Professional Development

We prioritize the growth of our therapists through a comprehensive professional development program. Each therapist benefits from a minimum of 2 hours of training weekly, guided by Senior Psychologists with over 30 years of expertise. Additionally, we provide a bi-annual allowance for further professional development. The successful candidate will receive extensive support and training in CBT, covering:

  1. Traditional cognitive therapy methods;
  2. A deep understanding of the theoretical foundations of cognitive therapy, including the latest research in cognitive science and evolutionary psychology;
  3. Skills in contemporary clinical techniques and applications, such as mindfulness and meta-cognitive therapy, with a focus on unconditional acceptance.

Client-Therapist Matching

Our clinic enjoys a robust referral network, allowing the successful candidate to quickly build a client base. Referrals are evaluated at intake by a senior psychologist and assigned to therapists based on compatibility, ensuring that each therapist's caseload aligns with their interests and expertise.

Competitive Salary

The annual salary of $90,000 - $100,000 is structured around full-time employment, with an expectation of 20 to 27 client hours per week. Work hours are flexible and can be discussed with management.

No Overhead Costs

Each therapist is provided with a personal, fully furnished office and comprehensive administrative support. Our administrative team is highly skilled in managing all operational aspects of a private clinic.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a clinical Master's degree in Psychology or an equivalent qualification;
  • Have completed clinical internships;
  • Be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario or the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario;
  • Possess training and a strong interest in CBT;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to enhancing their therapeutic skills within a CBT framework;
  • Integrate academic knowledge with clinical practice;
  • Thrive in a collaborative workplace environment;
  • Be eligible to work in Canada;
  • Have proficiency in English; bilingualism is an asset.
