Position Overview

The Ottawa Centre for Cognitive Therapy is in search of a qualified Psychotherapist specializing in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This role is integral to our mission of providing high-quality mental health services to the community.

Compensation

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 annually

About Us

Established in 1995, the Ottawa Centre for Cognitive Therapy is a thriving private clinic dedicated to mental health. We conduct approximately 10,000 therapy sessions each year, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for our therapists.

Professional Development

We prioritize the growth of our therapists by offering:

  • Weekly supervision and professional development consultations.
  • A minimum of 2 hours of training each week with experienced Senior Psychologists.
  • A bi-annual allowance for professional development activities.
Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Receive comprehensive support and training in CBT methodologies.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations of cognitive therapy, including contemporary research in cognitive science and evolutionary psychology.
  • Develop proficiency in modern clinical techniques, such as mindfulness and meta-cognitive therapy, with a focus on unconditional acceptance.
Client Engagement

Our clinic enjoys a high referral rate, allowing therapists to build their caseloads quickly. Referrals are carefully assessed by senior psychologists to ensure optimal matches between clients and therapists based on expertise and interests.

Work Environment

Each therapist is provided with a personal, fully furnished office and extensive administrative support from a knowledgeable staff, allowing them to focus on client care.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A clinical MA in Psychology or equivalent.
  • Completion of clinical internships.
  • Training and a strong interest in CBT.
  • A commitment to enhancing their therapeutic skills within a CBT framework.
  • A dedication to merging academic knowledge with clinical practice.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingualism is a plus.
