Job Title: Senior Technical Officer

Join the Nuclear Waste Management Organization as a Senior Technical Officer and contribute to the design and construction of a deep underground geological repository.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on design and construction elements for the repository, including surface and underground infrastructure.
  • Participate in the development and issuance of contracting documents and evaluate contractors.
  • Manage contracts for conceptual design, detailed design, and field design activities.
  • Interface with contractors to monitor performance and ensure design basis and requirements remain valid.
  • Contribute to internal committees and tasks to gather requirements and ensure consensus on design changes.
  • Produce reports and documents on design status, work activities, and project status.
  • Represent the organization as a technical expert on repository design activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments on proof testing and international best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and safety programs.
  • Participate in public engagement activities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Requires a 4-year university degree in mining, geological, environmental, mineral, or civil engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred.
  • At least 6 years' experience in the mining or heavy construction industry.
  • Experience with design software, Ontario Mining Regulations, and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and interact with external contractors.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
