Job Title: Transit Driver Full Time

First Student is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Transit Driver to join our team in Barrie, ON. As a Transit Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, while maintaining the appearance of the interior of the bus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a transit vehicle in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area.
  • Maintain a strong attendance record and perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as required.
  • Assist passengers with wheelchairs or other mobility aids and secure them properly.
  • Notify dispatch of any deviations, accidents, or mechanical issues.
  • Complete and submit written reports concerning passengers and accidents.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Class BZ or CZ driving license, clear driver abstract, and background check.
  • First Aid certification and transit experience an asset.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work early morning hours and rotating shift schedules.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision and read and understand street signs, route sheets, and maps.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under stress.
