Job Title: Transit Driver Full Time

First Transit Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transit Driver to join our team in Barrie, ON. As a Transit Driver, you will be responsible for safely driving and maintaining the appearance of our buses, providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to our passengers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a transit vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a strong attendance record and perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as required.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities and ensure their safe boarding and securing in wheelchairs or scooters.
  • Notify dispatch of any deviations, accidents, or mechanical issues.
  • Collect fares and provide information to passengers as needed.
  • Complete and submit written reports concerning passengers and accidents.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Class BZ or CZ driving license, clear driver abstract, and background check.
  • First Aid certification and transit experience an asset.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in schedule and route.
  • Subject to wet, cold, and/or hot environmental conditions.
  • Subject to vehicle noise and vibration while operating transit vehicle.
