Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Dumas Contracting Inc. As a key member of our Senior Operating Team, you will be responsible for leading our Safety / Training Department and promoting a culture of safety excellence throughout our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with operational departments to develop and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Build relationships with government agencies and industry partners to promote Dumas' safety initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations into workplace incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of health and safety performance, including incident reports and audit results.
  • Communicate health and safety performance metrics and trends to senior management and the Board of Directors.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field, such as occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in underground mining, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Accreditation in the U/G Common Core and various mining specialties.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation an asset.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
