Responsibilities
  • Prepare and bake a variety of items including bread, baked goods, pies, cakes, tarts, French pastries, and desserts
  • Carefully taste, examine, and assess the appearance of food prepared by pastry staff
  • Ensure the timely distribution of food and products to designated locations under the direction of the Chef de Partie and Executive Pastry Chef
  • Communicate with the Executive Pastry Chef regarding production schedules
  • Maintain proper stock rotation in all kitchen areas, minimizing waste and adhering to FIFO best practices
  • Manage food quality and productivity by keeping detailed records under the supervision of the Chef de Partie and Executive Pastry Chef
  • Prepare mise en place for the next day according to expectations and demands
  • Maintain a clean workstation in accordance with AHS standards
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education, with a degree in culinary or hospitality management preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen or banquet operation
  • Food Safety Certificate
  • Red Seal Certificate
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment while standing for extended periods
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 24 kilograms
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to assess operations, prioritize, and multitask multiple services and timelines
