**About the Role**

We're seeking a skilled Commercial Lines Underwriter II to join our growing team at Intact Financial Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, evaluating, and negotiating moderate to complex risks.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.
  • Quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of moderate to complex new business, renewals, and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business.
  • Participate in broker visits, insurance industry functions, and marketing events to support broker relationship development.
  • Arrange reinsurance as required.
  • Answer inquiries, develop, and monitor business with brokers through visits, discussions, and correspondence.
  • Use computer systems for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting, and rating transactions.
  • Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency.
  • Foster cooperative broker relationships to identify and develop sales opportunities.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of CIP designation (or progress towards) is an asset.
  • Strong track record of developing, mentoring, and coaching teammates.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers.
  • Great communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong negotiating skills and business acumen.
  • Strong analytical and technical experience.
  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
