About This Role

The Procurement Specialist for Plant Operations plays a crucial role in managing the acquisition of essential supplies and maintenance materials for the facility. This position involves overseeing the inventory of spare parts and ensuring timely replenishment as needed. The Procurement Specialist contributes to enhancing long-term Key Performance Measures (KPM) by spearheading various improvement projects. Key contributions include optimizing stock room organization, reducing spare part inventory levels, and minimizing costs associated with replacement parts through diligent supplier evaluations and establishing alternative sourcing options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of maintenance spare parts and operational supplies within the SAP database. This includes organizing stock rooms efficiently, adjusting inventory levels as new supplies arrive, and tracking usage to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Inventory Analysis: Regularly assess spare part and operational supply inventory targets to optimize stock levels. Factors to consider include availability, cost, operational significance, usage frequency, lead times, and historical consumption data.
  • Performance Reporting: Utilize the plant's financial tracking systems to monitor expenditures related to maintenance supplies and operational materials. Collaborate with maintenance and production management to establish month-end financial accruals and report on performance metrics such as monthly inventory levels and purchasing activities.
  • Stock Room Organization: Design and implement user-friendly layouts for stock rooms with high inventory counts, ensuring logical arrangement for ease of access.
  • Vendor Communication: Serve as the primary contact for plant vendors and liaise with maintenance personnel and management to coordinate purchasing activities.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment within the consumer goods sector. Familiarity with equipment is essential.
  • Knowledge of suppliers and service providers is necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, and Material Control software. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
