Job Summary

The Registered Nurse Class A - Miramichi is a key member of the healthcare team at Horizon Health Network. This role involves providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using standardized tools and the nursing process.
  • Provide case management and counseling services to patients and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care in accordance with NANB standards.
  • Develop and continuously evaluate individual nursing care plans, ensuring modifications as needed.
  • Engage in therapeutic relationships and support patients and families in their recovery planning.
  • Facilitate and participate in educational or therapeutic groups.
  • Ensure patients and families have been provided with information conducive to optimal outcomes.
  • Act as a patient advocate, promoting open communication and professionalism.
  • Maintain knowledge of treatments, equipment, and supplies pertinent to the service.
  • Act as a role model, working collaboratively with other team members.
  • Evaluate and communicate special patient needs and/or staffing needs to ensure safe and quality care provision.

Education and Human Resources

  • Maintain personal certification skills required for the role.
  • Model professionalism, maintaining standards of practice and professional boundaries as determined by the service and NANB.
  • Act in a leadership role for other professional and non-professional staff.
  • Assist with and support the orientation of new staff.
  • Assist with educating patients, families, staff, and community.
  • Support the preceptorship program.
  • Promote and demonstrate an interest in program activities, attending staff meetings, participating on committees as requested, and contributing to the development/evaluation of unit standards of care.
  • Report unsafe practices or professional misconduct that could endanger patient safety.

  • Maintain awareness of fiscal responsibility and promote a culture of cost effectiveness.
  • Act as a change agent to enhance quality of care, work environment, and sustainability.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager regarding optimization measures.

Language Proficiency
