Job Title: Welder

Strait mechanical Ltd. is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. As a Welder, you will be responsible for interpreting welding process specifications, operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, and ensuring that welds meet standards and specifications.

Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in an industrial setting, outdoors, and at heights. They will be exposed to cold, refrigerated, and dusty environments, as well as confined spaces and noisy conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret welding process specifications and ensure that welds meet standards and specifications.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, including flux core arc welding (FCAW).
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • Fit, braze, and torch-straighten metal.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment.
  • Operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations, and seams of metal.
Requirements
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Organized and a team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle heavy loads.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Hand-eye co-ordination and ability to stand for extended periods.
