Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Sessional Instructor to teach in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at North Island College. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing the practice course NUR 414: Nursing Practice VIII – Transitioning to BSN Graduate to a cohort of BSN students via a face-to-face delivery method.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments
- Teach in assigned subject areas and include all required subject matter or skill activity
- Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment
- Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours
- Clearly communicate learning outcomes for programs and courses
- Design and conduct evaluations or appraisals of students
- Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Nursing, with one degree in Nursing
- Doctorate preferred
- Experience teaching adults, preferably at the postsecondary level
- Current registration with BCCNM (inclusive of Criminal Record)
- Current CPR level HCP
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Indigenous health and/or global health
- Experience using a variety of creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning
- Ability to demonstrate effective team behaviours and support cooperative working relationships
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Commitment to evidence-informed practice and scholarly activities
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be required to have access to reliable transportation and may be required to travel for practicum placements.
