Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Paramedic Service is seeking a skilled Communication Officer Trainee to join their team. As a key member of the Communications Branch, you will play a vital role in optimizing CACC services, improving paramedic system operations, and providing exceptional customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency medical call taking and dispatching services for the Eastern Ontario Catchment Area
  • Assess calls for medical assistance, provide medical pre-arrival instructions, and deploy emergency vehicles and paramedics
  • Communicate effectively with callers, ambulance crews, and other stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Branch to ensure efficient and effective operations
Requirements
  • One year of post-secondary education in Emergency Communications, Public Safety, or Healthcare
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a customer service field
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
  • Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certification course is desirable
  • Current Emergency Medical Responder certificate (EMR) is desirable
