POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the Recovery Home Support Worker involves being part of a cohesive team dedicated to providing essential support in a residential environment. This position focuses on delivering crisis intervention, educational resources, coping strategies, and connections to community services for individuals impacted by mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, and crises.

The Recovery Support Worker (R.S.W.) is instrumental in fostering recovery, stability, and autonomy among clients by offering extensive support. Key responsibilities include ensuring client safety, assisting with daily living activities, and promoting active engagement in community activities such as cooking, cleaning, participating in group discussions, driving, and shopping.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide crisis support as required and report promptly.
  • Function independently while being part of a team.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethical standards aligned with First Nations principles.
  • Safeguard medications as per regulatory requirements.

  • Regularly update client records in the designated database.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Oversee household duties, ensuring safety and supervision for clients.

  • Manage household tasks, including meal preparation, cleaning, grocery shopping, and laundry.
  • Maintain inventory of groceries and household supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma and a recognized Social Services Diploma or Certificate in a relevant field.
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years working in a psychiatric environment with individuals facing complex mental health and addiction issues.
  • Experience in managing adverse interactions.
  • Group work experience with clients is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with the client intake process is advantageous.
  • Experience working with Indigenous clients in crisis situations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
  • Capability to balance multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Flexibility and creativity in problem-solving.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of Stó:lō culture and traditions is preferred.
  • Experience with First Nations communities is an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
