Job Title: Recovery Home Support Worker

Seabird Island Band is seeking a skilled Recovery Home Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our integrated team, you will work closely with individuals affected by mental illness, addictions, trauma, and crisis in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide crisis support and report immediately as needed
  • Function independently within the framework of a team
  • Maintain professional conduct, boundaries, and ethical standards
  • Safekeeping medication as per Section 65 of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act
  • Empathetic, compassionate, and patient
  • Regularly update client records in Mustimuhw database
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends
  • Always demonstrate maturity and reliability
  • Participate in regular team meetings
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Provide coaching and life skills teaching to clients within a residential setting
  • Assist with household supervision coverage and safety for clients
  • Assist with client intake process as needed
  • Plan and participate with clients in social, recreational, and vocational activities
Requirements:
  • Grade 12, Social Services Diploma, or Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker educational program
  • Food safe Level 1 is required
  • Current First Aid min 8 hours and CPR level 2 with AED Certification
  • Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset
  • Two (2) years' experience working in a psychiatric setting with individuals who have complex mental health and addictions issues
  • Experience managing Adverse Interactions
  • Experience in group work with clients an asset
  • Experience with Client Intake process an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous clients in crisis situations
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, multitask, and to work under pressure
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and creativity when called upon
