Position Overview
Allied Properties REIT is seeking a Maintenance Technician to enhance our operational excellence. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the seamless functioning of our property portfolio through various maintenance activities such as painting, drywall repair, and other minor repairs. Your contributions will directly support our mission to create distinctive urban workspaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with various departments to facilitate efficient building operations.
  • Address tenant inquiries promptly and assist in resolving issues effectively.
  • Document all maintenance activities in the Yardi work order management system.
  • Respond to tasks generated from the Yardi preventative maintenance system.
  • Operate all equipment and systems safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance, including carpentry, drywall, painting, lamp replacement, and lubrication of fixtures.
  • Ensure all signage and lighting are functional.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks such as snow removal and landscaping.
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance or repairs with subcontractors as needed.
  • Execute all preventative maintenance tasks as outlined for equipment and systems.
  • Oversee service contracts to ensure compliance and service levels are met.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and equipment, requesting replacements as necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness and serviceability of common areas and mechanical rooms.
  • Support event setup requirements across departments when needed.
  • Adhere to all relevant government regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
  • Monitor and inspect building security systems, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems for proper operation.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in building operations or general maintenance within a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Strong practical knowledge of general maintenance tasks.
  • Familiarity with building systems and emergency protocols.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations, WHMIS, and First Aid/CPR training.
  • Knowledge of Provincial Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and Fire Code.
  • Experience working at heights and operating lifts is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • A proactive learner with a growth mindset.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • A collaborative team player who adapts well to change.
  • Proficient in computer use; familiarity with Yardi/Angus Anywhere is a plus.
