About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Insurance and Treasury Analyst to join our team at Kinross Gold Corporation. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for assisting with the management of our global insurance program and treasury activities.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the effective management of insurance and risk-related matters, including annual insurance renewals, claims handling, and broker relationships. You will also be responsible for performing treasury activities related to financial assurance, banking, and cash management, as well as supporting various aspects of the sales and inventory process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the management of our global insurance program, including annual insurance renewals and claims handling.
  • Provide support for all claims and assist as needed with the handling of such claims.
  • Assist in managing broker relationships and ensuring that broker and consultant agreements are in place and current.
  • Create and track insurance program enhancement projects.
  • Identify and research alternative approaches to building insurance towers for various policies.
  • Participate in project construction insurance as needed.
  • Ensure that the insurance notification and claim processes are working efficiently and effectively.
  • Liaise with lenders and partners to ensure compliance with contractual provisions.
  • Stay abreast of developing risk and insurance trends and facilitate risk discussions internally and with insurance advisors.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining internal relationships and educate mine and corporate management on risk and insurance matters.
  • Work with risk consultants and mine management to arrange surveys to mine sites to conduct risk surveys and review the risk reports.
  • Maintain the quarterly risk recommendations with the mine sites and record progress.
  • Assist with the internal ranking system by prioritizing risk mitigation recommendations outlined in the risk reports.
  • Identify options around enhancing the current premium allocation system that takes into account mine site risk ratings and loss prevention performance.
  • Work with mine sites to track impairments.
  • Assist with maintaining worksheets used for tracking metal shipments, inventory monitoring, and processes related to intercompany and third-party metal sales.
  • Assist with processing various wire and metal transfers (external and intercompany), including updating and maintaining wire transfer templates.
  • Assist with letter of credit and surety bond requirements to ensure timely renewal and/or issuance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the quarterly treasury report and other quarterly deliverables.
  • Assist with maintaining the Treasury Management System, KYC requests, and audit requests.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in business or related discipline, or other professional related qualification(s) (CPA, CFA, enrollment in the CRM or CIP Programs).
  • At least 2 - 5 years of related work experience.
  • Preferably worked within a Treasury, Finance, or Insurance function.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines during peak periods.
  • Ability to interact effectively, including strong verbal and written communication skills.
