Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Technician to join our team at CB Canada. As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, calibration, and maintenance of automated industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test, troubleshoot, and implement new processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Install retrofits to existing systems and diagnose hardware, software, and instrument problems.
  • Support start-up activities and ensure smooth operation of machinery.
  • Create and maintain automation processes to optimize production.
  • Oversee testing procedures, write reports, and ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Be available for support calls 24/7 and respond quickly to any problems that may arise.
  • Install, diagnose, and fix programmable logic controllers and other devices that operate automated equipment.
  • Program, implement, and troubleshoot PLCs, robots, and HMI systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production and support equipment.
  • Repair equipment and assist in maintaining programming software, application files, and programming hardware.
  • Improve equipment reliability and uptime related to automation and controls.
  • Implement Continuous Improvement Ideas related to automation and robotics as assigned.
Working Conditions
  • Physical ability to lift 60lbs.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Industrial workplace, where PPE is required.
  • Support 3 shift operation.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology (Robot and Automation Program).
  • Manufacturing experience and strong technical knowledge in programming, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), Robotics (Nachi, ABB, Fanuc), HMI programming, Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Omron).
  • Superior analytical capabilities.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
