Job Title: Controls Technician

Flex-N-Gate is a leading manufacturer and supplier of components for the automotive industry, recognized for its commitment to innovation and excellence. As a Controls Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our automated industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain automated industrial machinery to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Test and troubleshoot new processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement retrofits to existing systems and resolve hardware, software, and instrument issues.
  • Support start-up activities and ensure seamless integration of new equipment.
  • Develop and maintain automation processes to drive productivity and quality.
  • Oversee testing procedures, write reports, and ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide 24/7 support for critical issues and implement preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Install, diagnose, and repair programmable logic controllers and other devices that operate automated equipment.
  • Program, implement, and troubleshoot PLCs, robots, and HMI systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production and support equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Repair equipment and assist in maintaining programming software, application files, and hardware.
  • Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement and implement changes to enhance equipment reliability and uptime.
Working Conditions:
  • Physical ability to lift 60lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to work in an industrial environment.
  • Overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Industrial workplace with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Support for 3-shift operation.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology (Robot and Automation Program).
  • Manufacturing experience and strong technical knowledge in programming, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), Robotics (Nachi, ABB, Fanuc), HMI programming, Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Omron).
  • Superior analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects.
