Senior Research Scientist

Rutgers University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) team. As a key member of our research community, you will support the university's biomedical research initiatives and collaborate with experts in clinical informatics to drive innovation in data analysis and machine learning.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Data Analysis Strategies: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement experiments in clinical research, utilizing advanced computing and data resources.
- Provide Expert Computing and Data Support: Assist Rutgers faculty and students in their computational research, leveraging local, regional, and national advanced computational resources.
- Lead Large-Scale Data Processing and Pipeline Development: Develop and optimize computational pipelines and tools for large-scale data processing, mentoring junior scientists and technical staff.
- Manage and Analyze Complex Clinical Datasets: Utilize analytical models and advanced statistical methods to derive meaningful insights and identify patterns or correlations in clinical data.
- Develop and Coordinate Training Programs: Design and deliver instructor-based training on advanced computing and data analysis techniques, promoting education and outreach within the university community.
- Establish and Expand Partnerships: Foster collaborations with industry partners and promote Rutgers University as a leader in research and technologies, driving innovation and growth in the field of biomedical informatics.
- Master's Degree Required: A minimum of six (6) years of experience supporting computationally intensive and/or data-intensive research projects or equivalent work.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
- Advanced Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical methodologies, machine learning techniques, and data visualization tools, with a strong understanding of research infrastructure needs in the context of clinical data warehouses.
- Programming Language Expertise: Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably Python or R, with experience working in a Unix-like system.
- Ph.D. in a Related Field: A Ph.D. in a related field, such as biomedical informatics or computer science, is highly desirable.
- EPIC Electronic Medical Records System Experience: Knowledge of the EPIC electronic medical records system and the EPIC Cognitive Computing Platform (ECCP) is a plus.
- Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ethical considerations related to handling clinical data, such as HIPAA, is essential.
