The Applied Physics Branch at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Senior Systems Architect/Application Engineer. This position is pivotal in driving the development of innovative software solutions tailored for Cyber Security within Operational Technology environments.
Role Summary
As a key member of our team, you will spearhead the creation of advanced software applications, collaborating closely with a talented group of engineers and scientists. Your expertise will guide the team in addressing the complexities of cyber security challenges in industrial systems, ensuring the deployment of effective and secure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal technical authority for software solution development.
- Draft comprehensive project proposals, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Articulate and present innovative concepts and project ideas to potential clients.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight for major research initiatives.
- Lead and motivate a diverse team of technical professionals, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Mentor junior staff and foster their professional growth.
- Represent organizational interests at national and international forums, enhancing CNL's visibility and engagement.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics from an accredited institution.
- Over 10 years of experience in software development, proficient in multiple programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python).
- Proven track record in architecting software solutions and leading project teams.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and associated methodologies.
- Desirable experience in:
- Database Management and SQL configuration.
- Modern computing technologies and virtualization.
- Operating systems including Windows and Linux.
- Industrial communication protocols.
Eligibility for Secret Level 2 security clearance is required, which necessitates a minimum of 7 years of verifiable residency in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, or the United Kingdom.
