About the Opportunity

Harris Leadership Strategies is seeking an accomplished Executive Director to lead Project ASPIRE, a comprehensive Sustainable Protein Strategy initiative. Reporting to the Vice President of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME), Manitoba, the successful candidate will take full ownership of the project, drive internal and external functions, and lead a team to operationalize, grow, and sustain the project.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a strategic plan to drive Project ASPIRE's objectives, including leadership, strategy, communications, community engagement, and data-information.
  2. Lead and oversee the project's activities, internal systems, and staff, identifying capacity and competency gaps, and planning for potential organizational growth.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders, including the Manitoba Protein Consortium, industry, governments, academia, and Indigenous leaders, to achieve a common objective.
  4. Maintain a contextual understanding of implementation challenges and develop comprehensive solutions.
  5. Advance Sustainable Protein initiatives in a coordinated, opportunistic manner, working with Roundtables and partner organizations.
  6. Develop and implement a measurement system to track outcomes and indicators across the initiative, using results to make adjustments, inform learning, and continuously improve.
  7. Be accountable for results and provide regular reports on progress against objectives and key results (OKRs).
  8. Ensure effective communications, including website, to attract new stakeholders to the movement.
  9. Identify and engage new funding sources and ensure required reporting is completed.
  10. Participate in relevant networks and ensure stakeholder engagement.

Selection Criteria

  1. 10+ years of progressively senior experience, with at least 3 years' experience managing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic non-profit, social enterprise, or relevant business environment.
  2. Degree in business, economics, policy, agriculture, sustainability, social sciences, or related discipline.
  3. Resourceful self-starter with proven experience building and leading collaborative teams and generating growth.
  4. Skilled in agile project management methodologies, or equivalent skills and competencies.
  5. Strong understanding of sustainability, with experience in a related field, and a working knowledge of agricultural and food systems.
  6. Strong communication, stakeholder relations, and networking skills, and experience securing funding.
