Job Title: Director, Economic and Fiscal Analysis

At the Manitoba Government, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director, Economic and Fiscal Analysis. This position is a key part of our team, responsible for providing strategic advice and analysis to support the development of fiscal policies and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the multi-year fiscal framework, providing medium-term projections for summary budget revenue sources, expenditures, and capital spending.
  • Coordinate the production of the annual Manitoba Budget and contribute to the Fiscal Outlook and Fiscal Indicators sections.
  • Provide analysis, advice, and reporting on fiscal and economic conditions and outlook in other Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Work closely with other branches and divisions on matters related to government revenue and expenditures, Manitoba's economic overview, and Manitoba's credit rating.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in economics or a related discipline, or a combination of related work experience and education.
  • Extensive experience in creating new insights, developing new approaches, and making innovative decisions through in-depth and high-quality research.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex economic and financial information using empirical and/or modelling skills.
  • Experience managing a team of senior economists or senior analysts to produce high-quality research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce effective written documents and make well-structured presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with excellent political acumen.
