Position Overview


• Assess concerns and indicators of fraud to formulate investigative strategies across various insurance claim sectors, including Property, Auto, Fire and Theft, Cargo, Casualty, Accident Benefits, and claims involving legal disputes.

• Act as a key resource for the claims department regarding special investigations and fraud detection.

• Collaborate internally with Claims business units across all lines, providing resources and recommendations to support fraud prevention initiatives as necessary.

• Effectively communicate with all stakeholders, preparing reports, trial briefs, and updates on investigations in a timely and respectful manner.

• Establish and nurture productive relationships with law enforcement agencies (police, fire, and border control), governmental organizations, and investigative entities.

• Attend court proceedings or hearings as required.

• Ensure that claims investigations are conducted in accordance with company standards and industry best practices and regulations.

• Responsible for the overall management of case files and the quality of work products.

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of SIU regulations.

• Support ongoing training for all internal anti-fraud personnel.

• Provide constructive feedback to management regarding process and system improvement initiatives for the department.

• Adhere to relevant provincial and federal laws, insurance regulations, and best practices while enforcing company policies and procedures.

• Assist in evaluating, selecting, and ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness of vendors, including defense firms, private investigators, records review companies, legal document and photocopy services, expert witnesses, and other vendors involved in the settlement of relevant auto claims.

Qualifications


• Post-secondary education in Criminology, Insurance Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

• CIP designation completed or in progress is preferred.

• Strong enthusiasm for the Property and Casualty insurance sector with a focus on fraud prevention.

• Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to exercise sound judgment based on accurate and timely analysis of trends.

• Ability to work effectively in teams and independently as required by circumstances.

• Over 5 years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry.

• At least 2 years of experience as an SIU investigator.

• Experience in litigation and a solid understanding of legal principles.

• Clear comprehension of insurance industry practices, standards, and terminology.

• Some experience managing property damage and injury claims, including serious injuries and litigation.


• Valid driver's license required.

• Personal vehicle necessary.

• Bilingual proficiency in both French and English (verbal and written).
