Job Summary

The Lead Project Controller plays a critical role in managing the financial, scheduling, risk, and change aspects of projects. This involves overseeing the budget preparation, cost tracking, and financial forecasting to maintain the financial health of the project. The role also requires developing and maintaining project schedules to ensure timely completion of milestones and identifying and mitigating potential risks to safeguard project timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Control Systems Development
    • Develop and implement comprehensive project control systems that monitor project progress, track budgets, and manage timelines effectively.
    • Select and deploy appropriate project management software and tools that align with industry standards and company objectives.
  • Process Standardization
    • Standardize project control procedures across all projects to ensure consistency and efficiency.
    • Set up uniform processes for scheduling, cost control, risk management, and change management.
  • Team Development and Training
    • Organize training sessions for project controllers and related staff to ensure proficiency in using new systems and processes.
    • Develop continuous development programs to keep the team updated with the latest project management techniques and tools.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Develop a systematic approach for creating and distributing reports that provide critical insights into project status, financial health, and risk exposure.
    • Design reports to aid in decision-making at various management levels within the company.
  • Integration and Continuous Improvement
    • Ensure project control tools are fully integrated into daily project operations, allowing for real-time tracking and management of project metrics.
    • Oversee the integration of these tools with other enterprise systems to enhance data accessibility and reliability.
    • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of project control processes and systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Engage with key stakeholders, including project managers, finance teams, and senior management, to gather feedback and ensure project control systems meet organizational needs.
Requirements
  • Education
    • University degree in a related field.
  • Experience
    • 10+ years of experience in project controls with a high level of experience in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and estimating.
    • Extensive experience working on large projects, preferably in the mining sector, with a sound knowledge of contract principles.
  • Skills
    • Proficient with Primavera P6, InEight (Hard Dollar), and Excel.
    • Proficient in Oracle's JD Edwards software suite, particularly the Project Management Products.
    • Familiarity with Data Access Studio by ReportsNow and 4castPlus or similar Project Management software.
