About the Role

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our Finance and Supply Chain Management team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for purchasing high-value, complex, and non-standard goods and services for various City departments and Boards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Planning: Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the needs of City departments and Boards.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure the best possible terms and conditions for the City.
  • Supplier Management: Manage and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Procurement Administration: Administer procurement processes, including bid evaluations, contract awards, and contract management.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and analyze reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis and supplier performance.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by the SCMP Designation from the Supply Chain Management Association or a CPPB designation as awarded by the NIGP.
  • Experience: Considerable experience sourcing and purchasing a variety of goods and services of the type typically used in a municipal setting.
  • Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, and methods, as well as municipal policies and procedures governing purchasing operations.
