Nursery Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursery Supervisor to join our team at Amber Greenhouse & Farms Inc. As a key member of our horticulture team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our nursery and greenhouse facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Hire, Supervise and Schedule Staff: Lead and manage a team of nursery and greenhouse workers, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Plan and Direct Grounds Maintenance: Develop and implement plans for the maintenance and upkeep of our grounds, including the construction of decks and decorative or retaining walls.
- Plan and Estimate Labour and Materials: Conduct thorough assessments of labour and material requirements for various projects, ensuring that all necessary resources are allocated effectively.
- Organize and Direct Construction of Decks and Decorative or Retaining Walls: Oversee the construction of decks and decorative or retaining walls, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
- Plan, Manage and Supervise Landscape Construction Work: Develop and implement plans for landscape construction projects, including the supervision of staff and the management of resources.
- Maintain Work Records and Logs: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all work completed, including labour hours, materials used and project outcomes.
- Tender and Administer Contracts: Develop and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors, ensuring that all agreements are fair and beneficial to the company.
- Requisition or Order Materials, Equipment and Supplies: Source and procure all necessary materials, equipment and supplies, ensuring that they are of the highest quality and meet the company's standards.
- Supervise Nursery and Greenhouse Workers: Lead and manage a team of nursery and greenhouse workers, providing guidance and support to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Establish Work Schedules and Procedures: Develop and implement work schedules and procedures, ensuring that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
- Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
- Support for Persons with Disabilities: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for persons with disabilities.
- Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.
- Support for Youths: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth.
- Support for Veterans: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Veterans.
- Support for Indigenous People: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
- Support for Mature Workers: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for mature workers.
- Supports for Visible Minorities: Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
- Language of Work: English.
- Hours of Work: 35 to 40 hours per week.
