Nursery Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursery Supervisor to join our team at Amber Greenhouse & Farms Inc. As a key member of our horticultural team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our nursery and greenhouse facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Hire, Supervise, and Schedule Staff: Lead and manage a team of nursery and greenhouse workers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Plan and Direct Grounds Maintenance: Develop and implement plans for the maintenance and upkeep of our grounds, including the nursery and greenhouse areas.
- Plan and Estimate Labour and Materials: Conduct thorough assessments of labour and material requirements for various projects, ensuring accurate estimates and efficient use of resources.
- Organize and Direct Construction of Decks and Decorative or Retaining Walls: Oversee the construction of decks, decorative walls, and retaining walls, ensuring they meet our high standards for quality and safety.
- Plan, Manage, and Supervise Landscape Construction Work: Coordinate and supervise the installation of various landscape features, including plants, trees, and other hardscapes.
- Maintain Work Records and Logs: Accurately record and maintain records of work completed, including labour hours, materials used, and any issues or concerns.
- Tender and Administer Contracts: Develop and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
- Requisition or Order Materials, Equipment, and Supplies: Procure and manage the necessary materials, equipment, and supplies for our nursery and greenhouse operations.
- Supervise Nursery and Greenhouse Workers: Provide guidance and support to our nursery and greenhouse workers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Establish Work Schedules and Procedures: Develop and implement efficient work schedules and procedures, ensuring our team is productive and effective.
- Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.

- Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.

- Support for Indigenous People: Offers mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
- Support for Mature Workers: Offers mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for mature workers.
- Support for Visible Minorities: Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
