Job Summary

IDL Projects Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Coordinator to join our team in Prince Rupert. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for providing on-site direction on our Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance with client, company, and legislative Health and Safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer an effective health and safety program, providing advice and guidance to the project team on health and safety issues and topics.
  • Understand and apply health and safety requirements and processes to project work processes.
  • Perform general administrative and recordkeeping functions, including reviewing subcontractors' safety programs, maintaining inventory for hazardous products, and reporting and tracking incidents and near misses.
  • Create clear and timely flash reports and participate in detailed, fact-based incident investigations and management.
  • Implement client and IDL health and safety programs under the coaching of the health and safety manager.
  • Participate in project safety meetings and provide safety materials for daily toolbox meetings.
  • Engage in the development and enhancement of safe work practices and job hazard assessments.
  • Acquire basic knowledge of site safety programs, emergency response, fire control systems, and personal protective equipment and convey this to project team members and contractors.
  • Conduct facility inspections and safety audits on a regular basis to monitor safe work practices and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in a full-time health and safety role.
  • Industrial construction industry experience is preferred.
  • Accreditation as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Construction Safety Officer (CSO).
  • Related post-secondary health and safety degrees, diplomas, and certification are an asset.
  • Confident in taking action and able to adhere to timelines.
  • Outstanding communication skills and confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written, and electronic form.
