Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide support to students with special needs in a variety of educational settings. This is a temporary position that will remain open until our supply list is filled.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with physical, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility
  • Implement behavior modification strategies, including ABA techniques, to support student learning
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans
Requirements:
  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field, such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing
  • Experience working with students with multiple needs, including physical needs, autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff
  • Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies, including ABA techniques
  • Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies
  • First Aid training
Preferred Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and other support staff
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
  • Experience in a computerized environment
