Job Title: Social Planning Specialist

Join the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton as a Social Planning Specialist and contribute to creating a more equitable and sustainable community.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our mission to promote equity, inform policy and planning decisions, and increase community engagement. As a Social Planning Specialist, you will conduct community research on social issues, analyze policy and data, and develop recommendations to inform decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct community research on social issues relevant to our mission and community need
  • Analyze policy and data to inform decision-making
  • Develop recommendations to support community development and social planning initiatives
  • Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to build relationships and advance our mission
  • Prepare policy briefing notes and articles to inform decision-makers
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., social work, community development, public policy, research)
  • Knowledge and practical experience with community development and community-based research, particularly participatory research methods
  • Practical experience with policy analysis and knowledge of basic statistical analysis methods
  • Knowledge of social planning theory and techniques
  • High proficiency working with Microsoft Office and virtual meeting hosting platforms
