The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Instructor to lead our seasonal pickleball and badminton programs. As a key member of our recreation team, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging and safe programs for adults and seniors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver 9-12 week pickleball and badminton programs for adults and seniors, focusing on skill development and fun.
  • Lead groups of program participants, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to participants, helping them to master new skills and improve their game.
  • Collaborate with the Community Recreation Coordinator to ensure program success and participant satisfaction.
  • Ensure program equipment and supplies are available and in good condition.
  • Respond to incidents, problems, and emergencies in a professional and timely manner.
  • Create a positive and inclusive program environment that fosters participant engagement and learning.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching/coaching pickleball and/or badminton experience, or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of advanced skills/experience relevant to the activity being taught.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreation programs and services.
  • Experience working with adults and older adults/seniors in a recreational setting.
  • Current Standard First Aid certification with CPR C certification.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference/Vulnerable Sector check that is satisfactory to the Town.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

  • Rate of Pay: $24.97 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: Up to 24 hours per week, with a variety of shifts available.
