Position Overview

The level of the position may vary based on the profile of the selected candidate.

The successful candidate will play a key role in various investments that encompass specialized financing and opportunistic credit, including subordinated capital. Expertise in transactional matters related to private placements, corporate credit, infrastructure, or investment banking is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop business opportunities through a robust network of contacts and innovative, proactive strategies in specialized financing, subordinated capital, and opportunistic credit across primary and secondary markets.
  • Oversee, structure, and execute transactions, including negotiation, implementation, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Conduct thorough research and fundamental analysis of cases, assessing business model quality, value creation potential, and associated risks.
  • Independently prepare and present cases to the investment and risk management committee.
  • Generate necessary documentation on cases and the investment portfolio.
  • Monitor the financial performance of portfolio investments.
  • Collaborate with various CDPQ teams (Fixed Income, Infrastructure, Private Equity, Stock Markets, Risk, Legal).

Qualifications

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in investment, primarily in alternative financing.
  • A graduate degree and CPA, CA, or CFA designation are advantageous.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proven experience in negotiating and structuring private investment transactions.
  • A strong network of contacts within business and financial intermediaries.
  • Full cycle responsibility for transactions: identification, prospecting, evaluation, transaction, and investment management.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles.
