Tissue/Eye Bank Specialist

Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Tissue/Eye Bank Technologist to join their team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieve, process, preserve, and distribute human donor tissue in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless tissue procurement and distribution processes.
- Enter data into a computerized tissue inventory system and perform routine calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Participate in hospital committees and research projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Two years' post-secondary education in a biological science field or certification with the American Association of Tissue Banks or the Eye Bank Association of America.
- Two years' recent experience in a Tissue or Eye Bank or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Eligibility for certification with the American Association of Tissue Banks and/or the Eye Bank Association of America.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Broad knowledge of tissue/eye culture theory and practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized inventory database system.
