Expozone is seeking a skilled Furniture Designer. Our company operates an integrated manufacturing plant for museum exhibits and commercial furniture.

Job Overview:
As a Furniture Designer, your primary responsibility is to create detailed plans and schematics for the manufacture of various types of furniture and exhibits. Key tasks include:

1. Design Collaboration: Work with customers, designers, or interior architects to understand their furniture needs and requirements, translating their ideas into precise technical drawings.

2. Technical Drawing: Utilize computer-aided design software (Solidworks CAD software) to create 2D or 3D drawings that are clear, precise, and detailed, specifying appropriate measurements, materials, and finishes, and adhering to company standards and estimates.

3. Material Selection: Possess a good understanding of various materials used in furniture manufacture, such as wood, metal, plastic, etc. Select the most suitable materials, considering the needs of the client, design, and functional requirements of the furniture, as well as budget constraints.

4. Collaboration with Design Firms: Work closely with exhibition design firms to ensure that the plans you have drawn up are feasible from a manufacturing perspective. Provide technical advice during furniture production.

5. Research and Development: Stay up-to-date with trends in furniture design, new manufacturing techniques, and emerging materials, enabling you to propose innovative solutions and continually improve your skills as a furniture designer.

6. Other related tasks.

As a furniture designer, you must be creative, attentive to detail, and possess good communication skills to understand customer needs and work effectively with the manufacturing team.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Solidworks skills
  • Experience in cabinet/millwork design
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret architectural millwork drawings
  • Understanding of woodwork, cabinetry construction, CNC Machining
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (English and French is an asset)
  • Drive to learn new products and software
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Time management skills, with attention to detail
  • Able to work under pressure and ensure quality and timely completion of projects
