Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Furniture Designer to join our team. As a Furniture Designer, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and drawing detailed plans and schematics for the manufacture of various types of furniture and exhibits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development
    • Work with customers, designers, or interior architects to understand their furniture needs and requirements.
    • Translate their ideas into precise technical drawings.
  • Technical Drawing
    • Create 2D or 3D drawings using computer-aided design software (Solidworks CAD software).
    • Ensure drawings are clear, precise, and detailed, specifying appropriate measurements, materials, and finishes, and complying with company standards and estimates.
  • Material Selection
    • Select the most appropriate materials for furniture manufacture, taking into account the needs of the client.
    • Consider the design and functional requirements of the furniture, as well as budget constraints.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with exhibition design firms to ensure that plans are feasible from a manufacturing perspective.
    • Provide technical advice during furniture production.
  • Research and Development
    • Stay up-to-date with trends in furniture design, new manufacturing techniques, and emerging materials.
    • Propose innovative solutions and continuously improve design skills.

Requirements

  • Efficient in AutoCAD/Solidworks skills.
  • Experience in cabinet/millwork design.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret architectural millwork drawings.
  • Understanding of woodwork, cabinetry construction, and CNC Machining.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (English and French is an asset).
  • Drive to learn new products and software.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Able to work under pressure and ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
