Your Impact
Emmanuel House Hospice is a ten-bed palliative care facility that offers a home-like atmosphere for individuals nearing the end of their lives. Our approach includes a collaborative team of professionals, including personal support workers, nursing staff, physicians, and spiritual and psychosocial support. We prioritize a person-centered and holistic model of care, emphasizing the importance of dignity at the end of life.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program and registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- BCLS certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Experience in providing care to individuals and families facing end-of-life challenges or life-limiting illnesses.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to apply evidence-based practices related to pain and symptom management.
- Previous experience in palliative care settings, including hospitals or hospices, with knowledge of the dying process.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Completion or active pursuit of Enhanced Fundamentals of Palliative Care is an asset.
- Resourceful problem-solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong time management, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Excellent attendance record is essential.
- Commitment to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices, aligned with the mission and values of Good Shepherd.
- Knowledge of harm reduction approaches to care is beneficial.
- Fluency in a language other than English is an asset.
