About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Director to lead and manage a team of technical directors, ensuring they have the necessary skills to meet project requirements and deadlines. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assuming responsibility for the health and success of projects and productions worked on by your team.
  • Working with project managers and R&D operations to develop project charters and report on progress.
  • Leading the relationship with key stakeholders to develop solutions in collaboration with the technical director.
  • Collaborating with the software development team to customize and extend industry-standard software tools to meet the specific needs of the studio.
  • Diagnostics and resolving technical issues to maintain a stable production environment.
  • Working with local department managers to provide significant performance evaluations for team members.
  • Participating in interviews with candidates who may join your team or be assigned to projects related to your area of expertise.
  • Following your efforts using the methods and tools provided according to the project management standards of R&D at TCS, and promoting accurate reports.
  • Ensuring that the final product meets the highest quality standards, while managing technical constraints and limitations.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Python or C++.
  • A degree in computer science, technical animation, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent experience in production is also considered.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Git. Significant knowledge of one or more VFX applications (Houdini, Maya, etc.).
  • Significant experience in developing and publishing software for a company or organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting stakeholder requests and providing functional solutions.
  • Experience in leading a team or project or significant experience as a senior developer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PySide, PyQt.
  • Experience with Confluence and/or Jira.
  • Understanding of how data flows between departments of a VFX studio.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum methodology.
