About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Auto Underwriting Specialist to join our team at The Sovereign General Insurance Company. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in reviewing and evaluating large and complex account applications to determine risk, extent of coverage, and premiums.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate large and complex account applications to determine risk, extent of coverage, and premiums.
  • Accept or reject applications based on established policies, procedures, and standards, company philosophies, and authority levels.
  • Promote, underwrite, and quote new business, renewals, and endorsements in accordance with the company's underwriting philosophy, rating, loss ratio objectives, service standards, and authority levels.
  • Negotiate coverage and rates and participate in underwriting audits.
  • Complete necessary documentation in support of the business you handle.
  • Develop and maintain positive, constructive relationships with brokers.
  • Develop a team-oriented approach to meeting corporate and department goals and objectives, including written premium and profitability objectives.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of Commercial Auto Underwriting experience with proven experience underwriting new business.
  • Experience in auto and transportation with a focus on medium to large accounts.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation an asset.
  • Proven experience building lasting relationships with broker partners.
