We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Auto Underwriting Specialist to join our team at The Sovereign General Insurance Company. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in reviewing and evaluating large and complex account applications to determine risk, extent of coverage, and premiums.
Key Responsibilities- Review and evaluate large and complex account applications to determine risk, extent of coverage, and premiums.
- Accept or reject applications based on established policies, procedures, and standards, company philosophies, and authority levels.
- Promote, underwrite, and quote new business, renewals, and endorsements in accordance with the company's underwriting philosophy, rating, loss ratio objectives, service standards, and authority levels.
- Negotiate coverage and rates and participate in underwriting audits.
- Complete necessary documentation in support of the business you handle.
- Develop and maintain positive, constructive relationships with brokers.
- Develop a team-oriented approach to meeting corporate and department goals and objectives, including written premium and profitability objectives.
- 5-7 years of Commercial Auto Underwriting experience with proven experience underwriting new business.
- Experience in auto and transportation with a focus on medium to large accounts.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation an asset.
- Proven experience building lasting relationships with broker partners.
