Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Procurement to join our team at New Flyer. As a key member of our Purchasing and Materials Management department, you will be responsible for directing all procurement activities to effectively plan material requirements for purchased parts in support of our production schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize operational stability through improved material planning methods and systems, including inventory management.
  • Represent the Purchasing Department in daily and weekly key operational meetings by providing timely and accurate information on current supply issues.
  • Direct the Procurement team in achieving continuous improvement in delivery and quality performance within the Supplier Performance Measurement Program.
  • Establish key Quality and Delivery performance metrics and benchmarks that support established goals.
  • Direct, coach, and mentor the Procurement team towards achieving established goals.
  • Communicate Master Scheduling Requirements to suppliers to ensure supply continuity.
  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers.
  • Support and liaise with various departments to resolve any material supply issues.
  • Set and control the Procurement portion of the departmental expense budget.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education with emphasis on Supply Management or Engineering and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years proven Senior Management leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of Supplier Relationship Management and improving supplier performance.
  • Extensive knowledge of managing a supply base, inventory management, and MRP systems (Oracle considered a strong asset).
  • SCMP, COM, CSCP, or similar designations would be considered a strong asset.
