Position Overview:

The Senior Heavy Equipment Technician will operate under the guidance of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, focusing on the routine, periodic, and comprehensive servicing of Snow Cats and various heavy-duty fleet machinery, including Excavators, Loaders, and Skid Steers. Collaborating closely with shop personnel, you will guarantee that all equipment is maintained to the highest safety and operational standards, facilitating seamless mountain activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough maintenance tasks on all heavy-duty fleet machinery, adhering to professional standards.
  • Plan and execute daily, weekly, and annual maintenance schedules.
  • Supervise extensive maintenance projects.
  • Mentor and instruct apprentices alongside the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and relevant safety regulations.
  • Maintain equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Delegate tasks to team members effectively.
  • Assist in training operators on snow removal and snow cat equipment.
  • Operate machinery as necessary.
  • Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Support the development of a robust preventative maintenance strategy.
  • Manage parts inventory efficiently.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of work orders.
  • Oversee daily logs filled out by operators.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies.
  • Uphold safety protocols consistently.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe workspace.
  • Adopt sustainable practices in daily operations and planning.
  • Work towards achieving departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to meet organizational objectives.
  • Promote a culture of safety by reviewing and updating departmental manuals and procedures.
  • Embrace and advocate for the organization's mission and values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or Interprovincial Red Seal certification, or a minimum of third-year apprenticeship.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Previous shop experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with Snow Cats is a plus.
  • Familiarity with current safety regulations is beneficial.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Physically fit, capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
  • Experience operating snowmobiles, heavy machinery, ATVs, and 4x4 vehicles safely.
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding skills are an asset.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to travel to the work site and work during weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and punctual.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
