About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team at Good Shepherd Centres. As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing primary support to families residing in our emergency shelter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and support families in crisis, providing a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share their concerns and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to address the unique needs of each family, working closely with community services and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment within the shelter, conducting regular facility checks and ensuring the well-being of residents.
  • Perform residential tasks, including unit turnovers, cleaning, and laundry, to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in social services or a related field is required.
  • Experience working with families in crisis, including those affected by homelessness, violence, and poverty.
  • Knowledge of and experience working from a client-centered, housing-first perspective is essential.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset.
  • CPR certification and a valid G license are required.
