About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services
  • Establishing individualized treatment plans and goals
  • Managing a busy caseload and prioritizing issues on a daily basis
  • Providing education and support to clients, families, and caregivers
  • Contributing to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines

Requirements include:

  • Graduate of a C.A.O.T recognized School of Occupational Therapy
  • Licensed with College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS)
  • Two years relevant experience required
  • Maintain current certification in CPR
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
  • Counselling skills required
  • Demonstrated experience conducting both individual and group treatment
  • Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family
  • Familiarity with various psychotherapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be an asset
