Your Role at EXP
As a key member of the mining division, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of electrical engineering within our organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and mentoring electrical design staff, ensuring they meet their responsibilities effectively.
- Designing power systems, PLC automation, instrumentation, and control mechanisms.
- Guiding the development of design concepts and ensuring their proper execution.
- Reviewing and verifying the quality of work produced by designers, ensuring compliance with specifications and codes.
- Supporting the professional growth of junior design staff through mentorship.
- Implementing EXP's risk management protocols in electrical engineering practices.
- Leading design teams to produce comprehensive engineering and construction documents that align with project goals.
- Applying advanced engineering principles to address all aspects of electrical discipline.
- Promoting teamwork to identify optimal solutions.
- Managing multiple project deliverables within established budgets and timelines.
- Preparing detailed studies and reports on electrical systems for various projects.
- Executing complex electrical designs that involve conflicting requirements or challenging coordination.
- Conducting front-end loading assessments for electrical systems.
- Contributing to the refinement of EXP's design standards and specifications.
- Evaluating cost-saving opportunities while assessing associated risks.
- Drafting and refining design narratives that outline project scopes.
- Designing high, medium, and low voltage AC and DC systems.
- Developing protection and control systems.
- Creating electrical one-line diagrams, load lists, and area classifications.
- Participating in safety reviews and hazard assessments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer registration in Ontario.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in the mining industry.
