Key Responsibilities

Deliver technical expertise to colleagues and clients for civil engineering projects focused on railway structures.

Act as a key resource for service proposals and engineering, feasibility, preliminary, and detailed studies related to railway structures (both concrete and metal), hydraulic structures, and retaining walls.

Specific Duties

Serve as a point of contact for inquiries regarding engineering challenges, particularly those related to civil engineering and railway structures.

Proficiency in various software tools is crucial, including MS Project, Office Suite, and structural design software such as SAFI.

Key tasks include:

Contributing to the preparation of service proposals and studies regarding methodology, cost assessments, and work strategies; Executing structural designs for railway systems with comprehensive calculation documentation; Creating tender documents and construction specifications along with technical requirements; Conducting inspections and structural capacity evaluations on railway infrastructures nationally, while adapting to international codes and standards; Working independently or collaboratively on diverse projects and effectively communicating both verbally and in writing; Providing regular updates on project status and progress; Willingness to travel for short to medium-term assignments, both domestically and internationally, as required by project needs.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; specialization in structural engineering is advantageous. Additional training from MTQ (Ministère des Transports du Québec) in structures (modules: design, maintenance, construction/repair, inspection, evaluation) and AREMA training is a plus.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in structural design (bridges, railways, highways, etc.).

Technical Skills:

Experience in site supervision; Experience within the railway sector is preferred.

Personal Attributes:

Strong communication and writing abilities. Proficient in Autocad and structural design software; Active member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ); Demonstrated autonomy; Fluency in French and functional proficiency in English to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Relationships

Internal: Collaborate with all company employees and provide support for structural-related issues. External: Build and maintain business relationships with clients, suppliers, and other consultants.
