The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Scientist to advance research in the commercialization of AI-driven autonomous discovery and materials science entrepreneurship. This position will play a key role in building and analyzing a unique data set on science and entrepreneurship, collaborating with faculty and staff at the University's innovation hub.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on the commercialization of science and technology
  • Collaborate with the University's innovation community to publish research in economics and management journals
  • Support research-focused events and initiatives, including conferences and workshops
  • Supervise research staff to build and analyze a comprehensive data set on scientific entrepreneurship and innovation
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Economics, Management, or a related field, such as Business Administration or Industrial Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in economics, management, or entrepreneurship research and scholarship
  • Experience in entrepreneurial strategy, innovation policy, science commercialization, or related fields
  • Strong communication skills in written and oral English
  • Experience working with industry and academic partners, including startups and established companies

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong publication record in top-tier economics and management journals
  • Proficiency in writing and preparing research materials for publication, including grant proposals and research reports
